people and strengthening our communities.”

NEW YORK – (BUSINESS WIRE) – “Operation Cozy Comfort”, initiated by Michigan’s Blue Water Chapter President Carla Brodacki, is one of their many ongoing drives to collect and send comforting remembrances from home to our wounded soldiers in Iraq.
Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc, a national Veteran Service organization which started in February 1942, began “Operation Cozy Comfort” as a means to replace the regulation Army blankets for our American soldiers with a softer “touch of home”. They recently contacted Chris Madden, Chief Executive Officer of Chris Madden, Inc., a national design company, for a quantity of the Chris Madden® Plush Blanket, manufactured by WestPoint Home for JCPenney.
Chris Madden, the celebrity designer is the face and force behind her home furnishings empire that spans publishing, television, design and licensing, immediately approached her blanket vendor, WestPoint Home after this request came from the Blue Water Chapter President for the donation of Chris Madden® Plush twin blankets. “During my 30 years as CEO of my own company, I have always made philanthropy an essential part of my company’s objectives. Whether it was helping furnish homes for families on the Gulf Coast through my Project Katrina, or by working with our partners Architecture for Humanity in Biloxi, Mississippi, there are so many ways I have found to give back. I am always looking for ways to provide that sense of home for those in need and felt an urgency to respond to this request as this was only a small gesture on my part to try to ease the immense pain and suffering of our injured soldiers,“ explained CEO Chris Madden.
Senior Vice President of Sales, Alan Kennedy stated, “Westpoint Home is honored to be asked by Chris Madden to join in her initiative and to donate her signature blankets, to be sent to the Air Force Hospital in Iraq to provide comfort for our injured soldiers.” “As a Mother of a Airman,” says Michigan chapter President Carla Brodacki, “whose son has been deployed twice, I can assure you that there is no finer, softer, more consoling blanket available that we could send to our injured sons and daughters to reassure them that they are loved and cared for from home. For our troops, receiving the Chris Madden® plush blanket will be like getting a hug sent to them directly from their families. My thanks from the bottom of my heart to Chris Madden and WestPoint Home for volunteering so quickly to be a part of our Operation Cozy Comfort.”
