Chris’ Choice…Woman of the Week

Jessica McClintock

Jessica McClintock’s home is the epitome of romance – gracious, soft, and feminine – a mirror of her fashion philosophy. Launching her career in the 1970s with the clothing company ‘Gunne Sax’, she went on to found Jessica McClintock Inc, designing a wide range of bridal, junior & social dresses. The success of her company allowed her to open boutiques throughout the country & to create two best-selling fragrances. I was lucky enough to photograph her California home a number of times for a few of my books. Her whole home radiates a sense of sanctuary, filled with furniture and accessories with the patina of age.

Flowers, old baskets filled with fruit, a country table & benches – all combine to create the French garden mood that Jessica sought in her kitchen. The hood over the stove is hand-crafted. Photograph © John Vaughn

I featured Jessica’s dressing table in a previous post, and here’s a closeup of her vanity, beautifully arranged with an ornate mirror & the bust of a young French girl. Photograph © John Vaughn
